TRANSPORT PHENOMENA

Transport Phenomena Third Semester

Transport Phenomena comprises of following units :

UNIT 1: PHILOSOPHY AND FUNDAMENTALS OF TRANSPORT PHENOMENA
Important topics to be discussed are basic concepts of transport phenomena; equations of mass, heat and momentum transfer and their analogy.

UNIT 2: SHELL MOMENTUM BALANCE AND VELOCITY DISTRIBUTION
The flow of fluids through different geometries (falling film, annulus, circular tube, sphere etc) are to be studied.
SHELL ENERGY BALANCE AND TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION
The flow of heat through different heat sources (electrical, viscous, chemical, nuclear sources etc) and convention types (free and forced convention) are to be studied

UNIT 3: CONCENTRATION DISTRIBUTION IN SOLIDS AND LAMINAR FLOW
Diffusion mechanisms in different reaction conditions (homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions) are to be studied along with gas absorption and solid dissolution.

UNIT 4: EQUATIONS OF CHANGE FOR ISOTHERMAL SYSTEMS
This unit includes the study of velocity distributions in turbulent flows and basic equations of fluid mechanics (continuity, motion, angular momentum etc)
