CHEMICAL PROCESS CALCULATIONS
Chemical Process Calculations third semester |
The course of Chemical Process Calculations is divided in four units :
Unit 1: Humidity
This unit is about humidity and saturation and deals with the vapour pressures and the partial pressures of gases and liquids. Relative humidity, absolute humidity, molar humidity, dew point are the main topics. The wet-bulb temperature and the dry—bulb temperature are also discussed.
Unit 2: Material balance without reactions
This unit tells us about the balance of material in and out of the system and how we consider different envelopes (parts) of a system. Chemical reactions are not included.
Unit 3: Recycle, Bypass and Purge
The concept of recycle, bypass and purge are discussed in this unit.
Unit 4: Material balance with chemical reactions
Stoichiometric chemical reactions occur in the systems of which material balance is to be done. It involves topics like percentage conversion, excess, limiting reagent, yield and selectivity.
Recommended books for the course :
1. Chemical Process Calculations by M.Himmelbleau
2. Chemical Reaction Engineering by Fogler
